This is the first canvas painted on returning from living in rural Shikoku, Japan. I walked around Muroto Cape everyday, breathing the Pacific sunlight and admiring the geology of this turbulent coastline.
Torii is traditional Japanese gate, most commonly found at the entrance or within a Shinto shrine. This steel barrier at sunset appeared as a modern gate to travel through.
