Abstract Khmer forest with atmospheric tree roots overtaking the temples, growing out of the ruins. The mysterious invasion of silk-cotton tree roots and the strangler figs over bas-relief or collapsed temple walls drive your eye upwards, they soar skywards under the jungle canopy. The ancient site was totally still: at dawn, there were no visitors and only birds calling in the rays of sun.
I was inspired by dawn visits by tuk-tuk, to Ta Prohm, built in the late 12th Century, and other splendid crumbled temples near Siem Reap, Cambodia.
