TAM QUAN GATE

£ 2,400.00

A large, very textured painting on board. Sold framed in bespoke zebrano African wood.

A large lily pond in a town square of Ancient Hoi Han, Vietnam, reflects this 400 year old gate to a temple. An intriguing place...it was very theatrical: the 3 sides were as a stage, with inviting worn vermillion wooden doors. But there are no temples behind.

This traditional gateway, symbolic of Vietnamese Buddhism hypnotized me, and all the passer-by.

The water and reflections were a mindful exercise to paint.
