Anchorage showcases an exercise in mindful painting. The viewer can make out the blurred outline of a bay at sunset and may imagine moored boats under the lights of a firework display at dusk. Four figures amble in the foreground with lanterns, wearing the traditional rice coats from the Edo period. The textured effect, created with many different media, is highlighted with sand and dots of oil pastels. A highly decorative piece.
