Starting in front of a mat, black canvas added a dramatic dimension to this “Volcanic Series” painting. I had witnessed the regular eruptions of the Stromboli under the stars. One looks at a transparent veil of orange and red varnishes, then becomes drawn to the lava flows running with flames. This is a striking, yet decorative composition.
