This painting was drying slowly, as layers upon layers of acrylic and different varnishes were applied to the canvas. Late at night, a Cuban woman’s face starting to emerge, and transformed the artwork. The recent Cuban trip had cut deep into my emotions. Azucena means lily in Spanish, a beautiful name.
